What is 'Number of Subjects'?

The 'Number of Subjects' is the amount of people that you would like to appear in the portrait. You will be able to choose up to five subjects depending on the artist.

How many photos should I upload?

You will be asked to upload a minimum of three photos that you would like your artist to use as reference material for you portrait. We will work with you and your chosen illustrator to have the subject looking their best.

How can I give the artist specific instructions?

You will have the opportunity to communicate any additional information to the artist. Use the text box to write down any preferences you have regarding colour, background, or any other elements of the portrait.

How do I upload my photos?

To begin uploading your photos, drag the files into the white box. Alternatively, click on the white box to browse files on your computer.

I am finding it difficult to choose which photos are best.

You will be asked to upload a minimum of three photographs. The more reference photos you upload, the more information the artist has to work with, so three or more photos are required but more are recommended if possible. After uploading multiple photographs, we will discuss the options with the artist and advise you on which would be most suitable.

How do I know if my photographs are suitable as reference material?

The most important quality for photographs to be used is clarity, especially in the facial features. Make sure your photographs are well lit, in focus, and neither underexposed or overexposed. The majority of the subject's face should be visible and not covered or obstructed by anything.

How does the reviewing process work?

At some point during the turnaround period for your portrait commission, you will receive a draft image by email to review. The exact time at which this will be sent will vary depending on the artist and their specific process of working.

What is a 'draft image'?

Our artists cover a wide range of styles and techniques so the exact type of draft image you will receive may vary. A work in progress could be a sketch, a polished digital image, or anything in between.

How do I give feedback on the draft image to the artist?

We will act as liaison between you and the illustrator. We will discuss feedback and work to make improvements should you like to make any adjustments. Once the you and the artist are both happy with the progress of the portrait, we will clear the artist to complete the commission.
